Triple Eight Distillery not only makes bourbon on Nantucket, but we also buy bourbon from distilleries in other states like Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Missouri. Those bourbon whiskies all have mash bills different than the bourbon distilled on island. We bring the whisky distilled elsewhere to Nantucket so it can mature in the barrel on the island.
For the Hurricane Rum we never use rum younger than 4 years old. Typically, we blend barrels that range from 4 years old to 12 years old. Every time we produce a batch of our rum we use an average of ten barrels. We will taste a range of barrels and then select ten or more per batch.
Named after the winds preceding storm conditions, a gale is signaled by two red pennants in the coastal warning display program, which is illustrated on the Gale Force Gin label. All gin uses juniper as its main ingredient. Triple Eight Distillery uses nine botanicals in their gin. Juniper is the prominent scent and taste, but quickly gives way to citrus overtones.
The La Langosta Blanca blanco tequila is made with 100% blue agave grown in both the lowlands and the highlands regions of Jalisco, one of the most culturally significant states in Mexico. We have developed a smooth distillate unique to the La Langosta Blanca brand. La Langosta Blanca blanco tequila is chilled down for 12 hours, giving it a crystal-clear finish.
It takes patience to yield perfection. In the case of La Langosta Blanca Añejo Tequila, our process begins when we add fine tequila from Mexico’s Casa Maestri to aged oak casks from Notch Whiskey, one of the most decorated single malt distilleries in America. Then we wait more than a year for these special barrels to impart their unique complexity to our pure distillate.
