As one of the oldest single malt whisky distilleries in the United States, making among the first single malts in the nation post-Prohibition, Triple Eight Distillery is leading the way toward a new category of American Single Malt Whisky.
Tucked away at the famed Cisco Brewers property on Nantucket, Triple Eight has long dedicated itself to making fine spirits. In 2000, Triple Eight began distilling The Notch, using the collective wisdom of their brewers, distillers, and vintners, and guided by renowned experts George McClements and John Ramsay in the early years in making the final blend.
Since its first release in 2008, The Notch has been recognized as one of the world’s finest whiskies, earning dozens of awards, including: Gold Outstanding from the International World Spirit Competition, Best in Class from the International Spirit Challenge, Best in Class from the American Craft Spirits Association, Best in Class from the American Distilling Institute, Best in Class from the San Francisco World Spirit Competition, and World's Best Small Batch Single Malt from the World Whiskies Award.
What makes The Notch so special? The short answer is the atmosphere. The natural beauty of the island, what makes Nantucket magical - the clear blue skies, the intoxicating scents of Rosa rugosa, honeysuckle, and bayberry mingling with the salt air, a damp fog rolling in - is embodied in The Notch.
Triple Eight Vodka is an ultra premium vodka produced on Nantucket Island. The vodka is triple distilled from the highest quality organically grown grain. It is then blended with our exceptionally clean and soft water drawn from well #888.
The Storm Series is named to reflect the strength and natural power of storms. For centuries, Nantucket’s coastline has been shaped by powerful ocean swells and winds, constantly reforming the island’s geography. Mainlanders and island residents should always take personal responsibility for individual safety in the face of an approaching storm, which include having a fully stocked liquor cabinet.
After a few years of experimenting on island, Triple Eight Distillery is ready to share their exciting line of ready to drink craft cocktails with the world. The new Nantucket Cran, Nantucket Blue, Nantucket Grapefruit and Nantucket Lime are a great representation of the unique and flavorful cocktails which were first developed on island and now grace the drink menu at the distillery.
For the past 16 years, Triple Eight Distillery has been on a quest to find a qualified partner to distill a tequila that Triple Eight would be proud to call their own. The search continued for years until an organized expedition to Tequila led them to find the most awarded white liquor made in the heart of Jalisco, Mexico. After years of sampling, sipping, and sniffing, Triple Eight finally discovered the distillate they named “La Langosta Blanca,” the white lobster, the most elusive sea creature in the world.
